Discipleship Opportunities

Scripture Impact Plan

Small group Bible studies, care for the wounds of trauma, stories of how God has moved - these and more are integral components of the KB&L Scripture Impact Plan for promoting discipleship among Banyamulenge.

At KB&L, our long-term vision is that Banyamulenge experience spiritual revival and transformed lives through language and scripture use.

We want to see Banyamulenge experience healing and spiritual revival.

God loves the Banyamulenge! And the Banyamulenge love God. They know Him in prayer. Knowing His Word helps them to know God even deeper.

Small group Bible Studies promote community and assist participants in developing a deeper personal relationship with Jesus. KB&L is promoting small-group Bible studies that help Banyamulenge dig deep into God’s Word and find answers to everyday problems.

Trauma care groups and training address the need to heal “wounds of the heart” - the effects of trauma past and present. Trauma care groups have begun, with these goals:

  • Promote healing from heart wounds

  • Provide tools to process past, current, and future trauma

  • Equip Banyamulenge to help others heal from trauma

Traditional stories of how God has moved in the Banyamulenge community are relevant and essential for preserving and promoting the culture for future generations. KB&L is creating books and videos in conjunction with the Banyamulenge community to ensure their stories are not lost.

We want to see Banyamulenge enjoy literacy materials in their own language.

KB&L would like to see a full Kinyamulenge library written by Banyamulenge authors and made available to the Banyamulenge community! As a starting point, the books posted on this website’s Digital Library are available to Banyamulenge around the world.

Kinyamulenge classes will help adults and children become proficient in reading and writing this beautiful language.

Workshops to promote the use of Kinyamulenge in many facets of the community include these:

  • Writers’ Workshops equip people with skills to write and publish their stories

  • Learning and using computer software facilitates translating Bible stories and creating helpful books for all ages

  • Song writing promotes the use of Kinyamulenge in church and home

  • Bible Overview Workshops inspire an understanding of God’s full message, woven throughout the entire Bible

For all of the above, a literacy committee is needed for planning and decision-making.

Finally, we want to see Banyamulenge transmit Kinyamulenge scripture, song, and identity to upcoming generations.

Language development must include future generations! Intentional ministry among young Banyamulenge must be interwoven throughout the activities outlined above.

Capacity building is key. Banyamulenge ministering to Banyamulenge - and beyond - will lead us to spiritual revival and transformed lives, through the use of Kinyamulenge scripture and language.
